It's been a month since the team launch and I must say I've not had a moments rest. Kit, bikes and races to sort out and plan for, there certainly is no rest for the wicked.
The team has kicked off really well, getting wins and results at the ACT track league, Manchester regional track league and Derby Arena track league.
This weekend saw us compete in our first TT of the year, the Nova CC 25 mile 2up event. We had 3 teams of 2 riders, with Alex Coates and George Elliott winning their category and placing 4th overall. This was an outstanding result to kick off with. Two of our riders had never done a TT before, so to throw them in a 25 mile event was an eye opener, that said they did brilliantly well. Louis Evans just looked so strong and with his team mate Joel Ackers placed 4th Junior. Brandon Fraser-Thomson only got on a TT bike a few days before and put in a huge effort to place 6th junior with his team mate Jack Smith.
Today, saw our youngest rider Harry Paveley toeing the line at Mossley CRT early bird race, joining Harry was Jack Smith, as if one race in a weekend wasn't enough. The weather gatecrashed the party, and decimated the field, Harry gave it all, finishing just outside the leading bunch, with that trademark smile, still beaming. Great performance for his first ever race.
I'm really pleased with how the team is bonding and working for each other we seem to have a good balance and a lot of fun and banter among the boys, sometimes it's like feeding the monkeys at the zoo but I wouldn't want it any other way. This is a happy, fun bunch of young men enjoying their racing.
We have have two riders competing in the Manchester TT championship over the next 4 weeks and we hope to do well, but as long as they keep having fun as well, that makes it worth the work for Lee and I put in.
